Linear Task: A Light-weight Portable Lamp for Modern Interiors

Introducing Linear Task Light

Linear Task Light, designed by Ray Teng Pai, is a light-weight portable lamp that complements any modern home, hotel, or commercial environment. With its unique tube bending technique and sleek design, this task light stands out as a versatile and stylish lighting solution.

The inspiration for Linear Task Light comes from the tube bending technique commonly used in the production of vehicle parts. By applying precision control, Taiwanese manufacturer Ray Teng Pai has created a fluid angular line that not only gives the light its distinctive look but also ensures it is light-weight, strong, and portable.

What sets Linear Task Light apart from other lamps is its attention to detail and user-friendly features. It utilizes the best color rendering, flicker-free dimming LED chips with a memory function that turns on at the previous set volume. This ensures a consistent lighting experience every time.

Assembly is a breeze with Linear Task Light, as it is designed to be easily assembled by the user. Made from non-toxic materials and packaged flat, it also prioritizes reducing environmental impact.

With its CRI 85 Dimmable LED, touch switch and dimmer, and compact dimensions of 570 mm x 150 mm x 340 mm, Linear Task Light is a versatile lighting solution that can be used for various tasks and in different settings.

Interacting with Linear Task Light is intuitive and effortless. A light touch at the end of the linear tip turns the light on or off, while a long touch can brighten or dim the light. The light also remembers the previous setting, ensuring a smooth and personalized lighting experience.

The development of Linear Task Light was not without its challenges. The design team faced obstacles such as insufficient mechanical strength, overheating, and touch sensor malfunctions. However, through perseverance and belief in the value of their design, they overcame these challenges and created a remarkable lighting solution.

The project started in April 2014 in Taipei and has since been exhibited in Ambiente Frankfurt and Maison & Objet Paris. Mass production of Linear Task Light began in September 2015 in Taipei, showcasing the advanced skills of Taiwanese tube bending and promoting industry upgrading.

Recognized for its outstanding expertise and innovation, Linear Task Light was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2016. This prestigious accolade is given to designs that demonstrate remarkable excellence, technical characteristics, and artistic skill, evoking positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.

Linear Task Light is not just a lighting solution; it is a testament to the fusion of art, architecture, design, innovation, and technology. With its unique design and user-friendly features, it is sure to enhance any modern interior.
